LOIRE VALLEY FRANCE - PART 1 / EL VALLE DE LOIRA FRANCIA - PARTE 1

Carlos loves history, so in the summer of 2013, we went to a place full of French magic. It is represented by more than 20 castles mainly built during the Renaissance although many of them date from the Middle Ages. This place is on a valley around the Loire river (which derives its name Loire valley) to over 200 km in length in the center of France.

This is a bewitched place, it is like traveling through time and feel yourself in other time. If you like history, architecture, views, nature, wine and arts this is a place for you. 

In this post I wan to tell you about each of the castles I visited (5 in total) and two important cities: Tours and Orleans. In addition, I would like to share with you some useful tips in case you decide to travel there. Consequently and because of the quantity of information, I’m going split the post in 4 parts. They are going to be published weekly during March.

A Carlos le encanta la historia, así que en el verano de 2013 conocimos un lugar lleno de magia Francesa representada por mas de 20 castillos realmente increíbles, que fueron construidos principalmente en el Renacimiento aunque el origen de muchos sea de la Edad media. Este lugar se encuentran en un valle al rededor del rio Loira (de ahi su nombre El Valle de Loira) de mas de 200 Km de largo, en el centro de Francia.

Este es un lugar encantado, es como viajar en el tiempo y sentirte en otra época. Si te gusta la historia, la arquitectura, los paisajes, la naturaleza, el vino y el arte este lugar es para ti.

En este post les quiero contar sobre cada uno de los castillos que conocí (en total 5) y  dos ciudades que creo importantes: Tour y Orleans. Además, compartirles algunos consejos si quieren viajar a este lugar. Por eso, para que no se haga muy largo, voy a dividirlo en 4 partes y cada semana durante el mes de marzo publicare un post. 

Espero que les guste y se animen a leer estas historias.

Some tips to visit the Loire valley:

1. Sleep in Tours. This is the central city if you are going to travel to the castles and it’s very beautiful. 

2. Rent a car to be able to move faster and spend more time in the places you like the most. However, there are tours with private transport. Moreover, if you like cycling and you have more time, there are rental services and you won’t regret the views.  

3. Buy the entrance tickets to the castles in the information center of Tours to avoid lines.

4. The ideal is to visit maximum 2 castles daily because they are not very close and to be able to enjoy them. 

5. If you are going to visit 2 castles in one day consider the ida of taking food with you because they are in rural places in which affordable restaurants can be difficult to find.

Estos son algunos consejos para visitar El Valle del Loira 

1. Alojarte en Tours. Es la ciudad mas céntrica para conocer los castillos mas representativos o famosos y además y es muy bonita.

2. Alquilar un carro para así moverte con mas facilidad y tener mas libertad de parar donde te apetezca, aunque hay tours que tienen transporte. Ademas si te gusta montar en bici y tienes mas tiempo, hay servicios de alquiler y las vistas merecerán la pena.

3.Comprar las entradas a los castillos que quieras conocer en el centro de información turística de tours para evitarte lasas filas.

4.Lo ideal es conocer máximo 2 castillos en un día ya que no son tan cerca unos de otros y así poder detallarlos bien.

5. Si vas a conocer 2 castillos en un día piensa en llevar comida ya que están en lugares rurales, y si hay restaurantes suelen ser caros.
